We’re excited to begin casting for our very first interactive theatre production, “The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker LIVE!”

BACKGROUND

Following on from our critically acclaimed and Guinness World Record Breaking video game “The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker” (2017), and “The Shapeshifting Detective” (2018), we’re now looking to offer the same “Doctor Dekker” video game experience but as an interactive live performance streamed worldwide.

THE LIVE PERFORMANCE

You will be playing the role of a patient in therapy, but the audience will be typing questions in a bid to uncover the root of your problem, and other strangeness they may find along the way. This mimics the video game. But you will not be scripted, and will be required to ad-lib / improvise based on the character information and suggested storylines we have given you. The videogame’s writers will also be offering direction during the live performance. It’s 100% experimental but we also want to try and make it 100% fun for all involved!

THE ROLE

Eve

Mid to late twenties. Eve has anxiety issues and has problems leaving the house. She comes from a professional background but interprets the world differently to others, which is why she’s seeking therapy. She’s happy to communicate with people as long as it’s not face to face, clever without being condescending, and has a slightly sinister sense of humour.

YOU

We are looking for someone who excels at freeform role play, can provide an engaging and believable live performance directly to camera, whilst responding audibly to typed chat from the audience. Staying in character is essential, regardless of what’s happening in the chat room.

FEE

£150 per 8 hour day is offered for the role and you will be required for two days. Please note that you must cover your own expenses (including travel) but we are able to transport you from Peterborough or March railway station to the filming location (30–40 mins). Please also indicate if you are NOT self employed. Refreshments will be available and there are kitchen, toilet and parking facilities on set.

DATES

We will be broadcasting from the original set in Wisbech, UK on Saturday 9th March and you will be required between 1pm and 9pm on that day. The live public show will take place from 6pm onwards (for 60–90 minutes). There may be an additional (private) show depending on demand. You will also be required to attend a day of rehearsals and pre-recording prior to the live shows (to be mutually agreed).

AUDITIONS

We absolutely encourage a direct-to-camera self tape audition if you are able. Self tape pieces should be 60–90 seconds long ideally and take the form of you responding in character as Eve to our suggested questions below (or your own) to see what kind of patient you’ll make (and how well you can improvise.)

Q1. Do you believe in ghosts?

Q2. Do you like being alone?

Q3. Would it scare you to know I’ve hacked your web camera?

Large self tape files may bounce so we recommend uploading to Youtube or a similar service and sending us a link. You can display these audition pieces publicly if you wish. Please do not try to script your performance as we will be looking to Skype audition our final shortlist, which will take a similar form to the self tape, except the questions will be new and unexpected! Top tip — watch Doctor Dekker Let’s Play videos on Youtube and Twitch to see what we’re looking for, and check the trailer on www.doctordekker.com

APPLICATION DEADLINE — MONDAY 11th February (23:59 GMT)

Please email your application, including your acting CV, self tape, and/or headshot to casting@davekki.com — we’ll be unable to respond to everyone individually but we will consider all applications equally and get back to you if we need anything else.

“The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker creeps in slowly, but once it’s latched on, it drags you to the bottom and keeps you there.” — Kotaku, Eric Van Allen

TIMODD was also nominated for “Best Story”, “Best Writing — Drama” and won the “Best Acting” award at the Adventure Gamers “Aggies” in 2017, whilst breaking the Guinness World Record for most FMV in a video game. It’s currently available for PC, Mac and Linux on Steam and was published on Xbox, PS4 and Switch by Wales Interactive.
